Richard 1899
Rueben 1901
Harriet 1904
Sarah 1907

1911 Census. In 1911 Robert was living at 5 Stranton Place, West Hartlepool
He was listed as 50 years old (Married 24 years), his occupation was a Blacksmith at Iron Shipbuilding Yard, His wife; Ann is listed as 45 years old. The census informs us that they have had a total of 10 children, two of whom had sadly passed away.
Living with the couple at the time were some of their children…
Robert aged 23 a Blacksmith in Iron Shipbuilding Yard.
Elizabeth aged 13.
Richard aged 12.
Reuben aged 10.
Harriet aged 7.
Sarah Ann aged 4.
The above census may help as a guide to the children’s date of birth issue, shown earlier?
Robert signed the census return as Robert Henry Grainger …one wonders why he didn’t want to use the Henderson name? Perhaps he didn’t want to be reminded of it if it was a clue to his Father’s Surname ?
